Healthy Eating

A healthy community is not only mentally and emotionally fit, but physically fit as well! Healthy Communities of Clinton County strive to make the easy choice the healthy choice; including physical health.

MyPlate

Use the myplate method from the United States Department of Agriculture for easy meal planning. Fill half the plate with vegetables and fruit, and the rest with one lean protein source such as beans, fish, lean meat, poultry or soy, and one grain serving, aiming for whole-grain options at least half the time. Instead of sugary drinks, wash the meal down with water or fat-free or low-fat milk. Choosing these foods helps your body get the nutrients it needs to thrive.

Community Garden

Community Garden

There are community gardens located in all of our small towns in the county, along with one at the Healthy Communities location on Rossville Avenue.  The garden at our office is open to the public to pick vegetables, weed the garden, or be part of this experience in any way.  Be on the lookout for our postings when the vegetables are ready if you would like any free produce!  Call (765) 659-6063 for locations of community gardens throughout the county. Food is free to pick!

Health Screening Information

Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition offer free monthly health screenings (Know Your Numbers) throughout Clinton County.  During these screenings, participants go through a 5 minute health check on their blood pressure, height/weight/BMI, and blood sugar.  Participants also receive monthly education on nutrition and health.  These screenings are free to all and all are welcome!

These screenings help many people throughout our community to become more knowledgeable about their health and to be able to control things like high blood sugar or pre-diabetes.  Through the education and monthly record of their health, our goal is to make our community a healthier place!

These health screenings are performed at eight convenient locations monthly. Call (765) 659-6063 for more information regarding the health screening nearest you.
